How Gold-Backed Tokens Work: Reserves, Custody and Redemption

Behind every gold-backed token is a reserve, a custodian and a set of rules. Here is how the pieces fit together.

A gold-backed token is only as good as the structure behind it. Three things define that structure: the reserve that backs the token, the custody arrangement that protects it, and the redemption terms that say what you can ultimately claim.

The reserve

The reserve is the pool of gold that the token is designed to represent. For Auvixus, the reserve and the arrangements behind it, including how it is verified and safeguarded, are set out in the Auvixus token terms.

Custody

Custody arrangements describe who safeguards the assets and what protections apply. For Auvixus, the digital tokens are safeguarded under institutional-grade custody protocols. These details matter because they determine what stands behind the token if something goes wrong.

  • Who is the custodian, and under what standards do they operate?
  • How is the underlying reserve verified, and by whom?
  • What happens to the reserve if a party in the structure fails?

Redemption

Redemption terms define what a token holder can actually do with their claim. The Auvixus token terms set out the arrangements that apply, and you should read them before you buy.

Important: gold backing does not guarantee liquidity, a fixed price or protection from loss, and the token may trade at a different price from its underlying reserve. Always read the Auvixus token terms before you buy.

Why structure matters more than marketing

Any token can call itself gold-backed. The reserve, the custody and the redemption terms are what give that phrase meaning. Understanding them is the difference between holding gold exposure and holding a promise.
